Though makeup is my first love, I have been falling more for skincare. I love the fresh, clean feeling of washing and cleansing my face before I go to bed, and I like experimenting (but not too much because I'm afraid that my skin might react) with different products that will give me soft, glowing, and youthful skin. So when Influenster sent me an email notifying me that I was receiving the Origins #MyPerfectWorld VoxBox*, I was super excited and checked the mail everyday until my box of goodies have finally arrived!
Now for those who received the Origins VoxBox, there was a special event you were invited to at your local Origins store for mini facials, pampering and discounts. I was invited to the Origins at Roseville Galleria (which is 40 minutes away from where I live), stupidly RSVP'ed and ultimately could not make it because it was the day after Cecilio and I moved into our apartment, and we were crazy crazy busy. We moved our big items that day (bed and sofa). I was willing to go to the event at the Origins in San Francisco which was a week later, but I was not invited to that one.
I did get to try all of the products in the box though! Here's what was in the box and my impressions:
Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
This face wash is designed for those with both oily and dry skin, and to help control the problem area without sacrificing the other. For example, I have dry skin. This softens and moisturizes my skin without making me feel greasy or producing excessive oil. For those with oily skin, this face wash will control that without drying out the skin. It's very gentle and creamy, and this is my new favorite cleanser.
Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer
I LOVE the citrusy and earthy smell of this. It has lemon, orange, and grapefruit peel oils which are responsible for that scent, and ginseng for brightening. You would be surprised that it also contains coffee beans for that boost of energy. And I put this on in the morning, and my skin looks radiant and brightened. It seriously looks like I wear a subtle highlighter when I apply this, I am not joking. However, I noticed that my skin feels a little more parched after using this, so it's not the most moisturizing for me personally. So I feel like I need to add an extra moisturizer or the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil.
Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream
I already have the full-sized jar which I have been using, and honestly I have noticed a very small difference with my dark circles. I admit that a lot of it is my own doing: I could sleep earlier and more, and use this consistently. And I have to admit again, it dries out when I apply it on my dark circle before it really seeps in. So I don't know. I have mixed feelings about it, but I will use this this every morning and night to see how much better the results would be if I actually stuck to it.
Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral-Enriched Renewal Cream
Wow! What a long name! But I find this a lot more moisturizing and hydrating than the GinZing Energizing Boosting Moisturizer (and the smell is more subtle). I may have found my new favorite night moisturizer, guys! I wake up with softer skin with this.
Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask
This was the most disappointing product in the box. It tingled when I applied it, which I don't mind if it's going to detox and clear my pores. I left it on for 40 minutes and eventually washed it off. It did not minimize my pores at all, and it did not peel away the whiteheads on the sides of my nose the way that the Murad Clarifying Mask does. I also felt dry too, but the Night-A-Mins Renewal Cream helped with the moisture. Oh, and I woke up with redness after using this mask.
Overall, I really like this box and I especially love both moisturizers (even if the GinZing Energy Boosting one dries me out a bit) and the cleanser.
