My best tips for a sexy exotic summer look

It's still raining cats and dogs in Europe, exams are demanding their tolls and I've been hearing that summer will have its ups and downs. Still, that doesn't stop me from dreaming about my holidays in Spain and France!

Of course I've been thinking about make up and fashion as well. It's all part of the show! :) By the way, the gorgeous photo in the title is from Louis Vuitton featuring Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell. It's a bit old, but the dresses shown will never go out of style and this summer it's all about exotic prints again! (See my previous post on my first day at the beach). I recently found a similar dress like it on a second hand website! So you never know ;)
Now, when it comes to makeup in the summer most girls think of the "bronzed" look à la Victoria's Secret, right? Well, I came to the conclusion that there are no less than 3 dominant summer make up looks. Look at the pictures below.

The first one is your typical bronzed beach bombshell look by Victoria's Secret, represented by the eternal beach goddess Adriana Lima. To achieve this look you need to get a quality shimmer white mono eyeshadow and dab some of that eyeshadow in the inner corner of your eyes. You need a silky red lipstick and some liquid highlighter on top of it in your cupid's bow. Your eyeshadow is a shimmery brown with a tight black eyeline. Your cheecks have a hint of golden shimmer and some silky matte bronzing powder. I've read the ridiculous beauty tip of teaking a hot bath to make your makeup set and to make your skin glow. That is ridiculous. How about hovering over the bathroom counter filled with hot water, spraying a makeup setting spray, or even better: just spraying some Evian on your face? About Evian...I use it now to rinse my hair after washing. It's a lot softer (I read that tap water contains lead which puts very small particals of metal in the hair slowly making it rusty and sticky).
The second is a fresher alternate: the Legally Blonde look. I don't mean to do as fresh as in the picture, actually. Remember that in the summer the light reflects on your face, so makeup is hardly visible. Conclusion: no reason for less makeup or a "fresher" face, as long as you don't cake your face with powder just to stop the sweating. What I mean with this Reese Witherspoon look is to use girly and doll-ish colours. Colours you used to experiment with as a little girl: blue and purple eyeshadow, pink lipgloss, ultra pink blush and very very light mascara, or maybe none (ideal for swimming).
The third one is kind of my favourite. It's the Italian bold look, and how could I explain it better than with a picture of Monica Bellucci in the high summer starring in Malena (a movie about the most beautiful woman in Italy, a must buy). Like I said, in summer you can hardly see the makeup because of the sunlight. So why not wear something sultry? Matte slate and dark brown hues, dark pinks and reds, loads of mascara for think flirty wings (not spider lashes of course).
So as you can see there are lots of choices. Another thing is to wear heels more often. I know walking in the hot sun can be tiresome, but do try! It will make all the boys go crazy!
Keep your hair out of the sun as this will lighten it, and I don't mean in a nice coupe soleil kind of way, more like it will bring out the redness in your hair, if you've died it. Especially if you curl your hair, which makes your hair slightly more transparent. I had to die my hair brown again to get rid of my ends becoming transparant-ish and red from curling and sun.

I've tried the Pantene Split Ends Serum. It contains alcohol allowing you to apply it to dry hair without making it too oily. I'm not sure if it's working though.

What I do like is the L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil, which you can use wet or dry. I prefer using it before blow drying. It gives my hair a soft and supple finish.

If your hair is damaged, use a repairing hairspray such as Gliss Kur Brilliant Tonic or Nivea Long Repair.

Get an exotic smell like the shower gells from Ishuiaia
Use a light gel-textured daycream as your makeup base to protect your skin from ageing.
Wear your most seductive perfume, every day, and you'll feel amazing!

Nails: for your hands I recommend something fresh and sexy like this Pearly White from Essie.

For the feet I think nothing is more beautiful than a glossy French pedicure. Home made of course! (Do get a nail pencil for sparkling white nails!). Get a pummice stone and start scrubbing your toes so they are silky soft. Tip: use the pummice stone while skin is dry.

Get a fine ankle bracelet from any shop, it looks very pretty! Also, if you're going to wear a necklace, try something simple, symmetric and sweet, like a heart:

I know this may all seem a bit cliche, but this is classic summer beauty and I hope you have enjoyed reading! I wish everyone the best summer ever!
Kisses
Helene
