Tweezerman Mascara Guard review

Hello guys

Well, in little Belgium, we may not have the extended line of MaxFactor, Maybelline, Clinique...etc. ... but at least now we have...Tweezerman! So I may not be able to find the make-up I want, at least I have these cool little thing called the Mascara Guard that I found at Ici Paris last week.

I always wanted a mascara guard. It's a tool to protect your eyelids from mascara stains during application. I tried business cards before (too messy), and spoons (inefficient), so I was relieved when I noticed this at the store. It was around 12 euros but I thought it would be a good investment. Mascara is the cherry on top of a make up look and nothing can enrage me as quickly as a mascara stain on top of perfectly applied eyeshadow.

When I bought it I thought it would be made of plastic (it came in a box), but it was much better, it was made from rubber, so the mascara wand wasn't going to slip on the plastic. It also has small lash like bumps to guide the mascara's comb. It can be used on the upper and lower eyelid.

It did protect my eyelids perfectly and I was able to keep it quite close to the lashline. The rubber also allows you to push the mascara closer onto the eyelashes and to seperate them better, meaning you can get every single little lash without getting clumps. One thing is that the guard isn't very large or round meaning I have to rotate it during application to protect each corner of my eyes. Also one downside of using a guard is that you get the same result with every mascara, at least that's what I believe. If I want to get the "wings" effect out of my mascara again, I have to apply a second coat without the guard, or only holding it flat against the lid so the mascara wand doesn't touch it.

All in all it does what it's supposed to do: protect the lids from mascara stains.

Available from Tweezerman, I got mine at Ici Paris for 12 euros.

x

Helena
